Own your stuff

The way to long-term success is paved with short-term failures.

To go forward, accept this as a fact and promise yourself that you will move on, no matter what.

To overcome disappointment, accept full responsibility for your actions, emotions, shortcomings, mistakes.

Own them! They are yours.

Zero excuses.

Of course, that is not to say you must keep beating yourself up every time you fall. Rather:

Accept responsibility

“I have made a freaking ugly mistake!”

“Yes. I have indeed. Haven’t I?”

“No one else is to blame. Not the weather, the circumstances, or the stock exchange.”

“I did it!”

Make it simple, because it is

A mistake is a mistake. That’s it! It is what it is. You can’t go back. It can’t be changed.

But you don’t have to stick with it either.

It doesn’t make you who you are.

Be fair to others and honest to yourself

“Has someone suffered because of this?”

“I’m I proud of it? No!”

“Embarrassed? Maybe. Yeah!”

“I’m I making it better for anyone if I torture myself? Probably not.”

“Don’t we all make mistakes? I suppose we do.”

Learn

“What are the learning points?”

“What can I do better next time?”

“What can I avoid in the future?”

“Have I learned something about myself?”

Apologize

Say “I’m sorry” to those affected and yourself. And mean it!

“I screwed up. I’m sorry. I won’t repeat it.”

An honest apology goes a long way.

It is simple. It is bold. It is courageous. It is fair.

It puts an end to that nastiness.

It wins people over.

It is irresistible.

Move on!

Is there any benefit in you being tomorrow the person you were yesterday?

How about a wiser version?

You deserve it and the world needs it!
